Soap dish, 5.25 x 3.125 inches. Unknown Maker. Impressed registration number dates the registration of this shape to 1887. This typically Aesthetic pattern features a mishmash of elements. Either side of the soap dish features a flying songbird in a circular cartouche superimposed over a spray of violets. The lid features a mirror image of a branch of prunus blossoms. A rectangular cartouche is pierced by a branch and sits next to a round cartouche. The rectangular cartouche depicts a scene of a sailboat on the water with a tree on the shore in the foreground and mountains in the background. The round cartouches features a scene of two boats, resembling junks, floating on the water.

  • Subject Matter: Aesthetic (Cartouche)
